T-Hangar Incentive Program

The Airport is offering a free rent incentive for T-Hangar rentals.  The new T-Hangar tenant will receive the first three months free.  The remaining nine months will be a the rate which is currently $294.80.  The new tenant must enter into a one year lease without the option of ending the lease before the 12 month period.  In addition, new tenants will receive a fuel discount of 10 cents per gallon on fuel purchased at the airport.  This fuel reduction will apply to the initial twelve month lease period.  The program will end on August 31, 2013.

Current airport tenants will earn a finder's fee equivalent to one month of T-Hangar rent of $294.80 when they refer a new tenant who enters into a one year lease.  This finder's fee will be credited to their account.

Office Space for Rent

The Village of Lake in the Hills has office space for rent at the Lake in the Hills Airport.  The airport is located off of Rakow Road and Pyott Road in McHenry County.  The office address is, 8407 Pyott Road, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156.

The Office has the following features: 

• 1000 square feet

• Kitchen area with stainless steel sink, hot & cold water, counter top and base cabinets

• Space for a full size refrigerator available in kitchen area

• 2-window air conditioning units

• Coat closet and storage closet

• Heat & Water are included with the rent

• Great view of the airport, including the taxiway and runway

Covered Storage Available

Covered Storage is available in the T-Hangars at the Lake in the Hills Airport.  Store RV's, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, automobiles, appliances and more.  Inquires may be directed to the Lake in the Hills Public Works Department at 847-960-7500.  The Lake in the Hills Airport is conveniently located at 8407 Pyott Road in close proximity to the intersection of Rakow & Pyott Road.

Airport Marketing

The Lake in the Hills Airport provides numerous benefits to the Village and the surrounding community.  In addition, it is designated by the FAA as a reliever airport to Chicago O'Hare International Airport, making it an important component of our transportation infrastructure.

To ensure that current and future goals of the airport are documented and aimed at keeping the airport financially self sufficient, a marketing plan was developed.  A planning team was formed to assist in developing the marketing plan.  The team is comprised of members representing various and district interests at the airport.  The team members ranged from Village of Lake in the Hills trustees, Village staff, airport business and hangar tenants, and the McHenry County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Positive Economic Impact of 3CK Lake in the Hills Airport

The recent study released by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) through its Division of Aeronautics reminds us how valuable the Lake in the Hills Airport is to the economy.  According to the study the total economic output that results from the airport is $28.7 million.  A similar study published by IDOT in March 2000 showed a total economic impact of $19.2 million.  

It should be no surprise that airports in Illinois, including the 3CK airport, are an important stimulus for our economy.  Numerous travelers that travel to Illinois do so by air.  In addition many smaller businesses rely on aviation to meet their transportation needs.  

The Lake in the Hills Airport is designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a reliever to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.  And it is the only public airport in McHenry County.  Services available at the airport include a Fixed Based Operator that provides full service (not self-serve) fuel and charter flights, a well established flight school, and aircraft maintenance repair facilities with a reputation that draws in pilots from around the region for aircraft repairs.  A small viewing/eating area provides a place for families to enjoy a picnic while they watch aircraft take off and land.   Click on the summary picture below to view the summary for Lake in the Hills Airport.  You can click here to view the complete study.
