Airport Safety Improvement ProgramPyott Road Relocation

The Village continues to move forward with safety improvements at the Airport.  With Pyott Road nearing completion, work is moving on to relocate the parallel taxiway.  The existing parallel taxiway is too close to the runway based on Federal Aviation Administration standards.  Work will start in spring 2010 to relocate the western half of the taxiway.  The first stage is the earthwork to prepare for the taxiway as well as creation of the primary storm water detention facility.  This project is funded through State and Federal grants as well as revenues generated at the Airport.  The Airport portion of this project is only 2.5%.

In the future, work will continue with paving of the taxiway and construction of a new main parking apron.  The new apron is necessary to replace the existing apron which will be displaced by the new taxiway.

Next Steps:

FY2010

  • Construct Taxiway Phase 1

FY 2011

  • Construction of apron

  • Construct Taxiway Phase 2

FY 2012

  • Remove administrative building

  • Remove fuel farm

  • Construct access road
