The mission of the Lake in the Hills Community Development Department is to guide land development through a comprehensive planning process and administer the Village's ordinances and policies in a fair, efficient and professional manner in order to promote and safeguard the health, safety and welfare of our citizens. 

The Department is also committed to taking a proactive approach in working with our citizens, businesses and other agencies on carrying out our mission and educating them on the benefits of our objectives. 

The department is responsible for monitoring all phases of construction and development throughout the Village to assure health and life safety regulations are adhered to.  In addition, the Community Development Department provides staff support to the Planning and Zoning Commission.  The department consists of the Administrative/Planning and Building and Zoning Divisions.
