Village Government
The Village of Lake in the Hills has a Village President - Trustee form of government and employs a professional Village Administrator and Department Heads to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Village. 

The elected officials of the Village of Lake in the Hills consist of a President, six Trustees and a Village Clerk.  All are elected to four-year terms.  These officials are elected at-large, therefore, no primaries are held for Village offices. The Village holds consolidated elections in April of odd numbered years.  Primaries and general elections, for national or state offices, are held separately.


Voter Registration
Village residents can register to vote at the Finance Department located in Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate.  To register, residents must be 18 years or older, have lived at their current address for at least 30 days prior to the date of the next election and provide two forms of identification with at least one having their current address.  Naturalized citizens registering to vote must provide the date, place and court of naturalization.  Telephone number is optional, but helpful.  The last 4-digits of the Social Security number are required by law, driver's license number is also acceptable.

Voters must be registered 28 days prior to an election.  Also, if you have moved or changed your name, you must re-register to be eligible to vote.

Early Voting
Lake in the Hills Village Hall is an early voting site.  The hours and dates are stipulated by the McHenry County Clerk and are as follows:

Monday - Friday, February 27, 2012 - March 2, 2012 - 8:30am - 4:30pm
Saturday, March 3, 2012 - 9am - Noon
Monday - Friday, March 5, 2012 - March 9, 2012 - 8:30am - 4:30pm
Saturday, March 10, 2012 - 8:30am - 4:30pm
Sunday, March 11, 2012 - 9am - 3pm
Monday - Thursday, March 12, 2012 - March 15, 2012 - 8:30am - 4:30pm
