John Bendis was an extremely active volunteer with the Youth Athletic Association and the Jacobs Booster Club. He also organized a youth tackle football team for the Fox Valley Junior League. But he was best known for his untiring efforts to improve the sports programs and fields in the Village and his desire to help youths. He died in 1983 at the age of 39.
