Park History

Sunset ParkSunset Park was originally known as Concord Miller Park. Meadowbrook Subdivision was developed around the park and the 75-acre park property was donated by Concord Homes. The park was renamed in September 1998 due to the fact that you could see the sunset and it was the farthest western boundary of the Village.  Property additions include 50 acres of the Sullivan property where the 3 football fields, buddy baseball, skate park, and new softball field are located. The Susong Property of 11 acres was added in 2002.

The Bark Park (dog park) was added in 2007 and developed with dogs and owners in mind; shade, drinking water, onsite parking and a large area for dogs to run and socialize.

Dedicated in 2007, the Buddy Baseball Field was added to the park due to the fundraising efforts of the Fox Valley Children’s Organization.  It is a unique, one-of-a-kind ball field for youth with disabilities.

Brian Krueger Memorial Field (Sunset Park)

Brian Krueger Memorial Field was dedicated in honor of Brian Krueger on Thursday, April 27, 2006. Brian died of an inoperable brain tumor in December 2005.  Brian’s involvement with the Lake in the Hills Youth Athletic Association demonstrated courage, compassion, and spirit during his time of adversity and was inspirational to family, friends, and the community.
