Parks and Recreation Program Policies

Satisfaction Guaranteed

The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department strives to provide high-quality activities and guarantees that you will be satisfied with the recreation classes, programs and services in which you participate. If for any reason you are not satisfied, tell us and we will quickly arrange for you to either repeat the class at no charge if openings are available or we will provide a refund for the program (see below).

Cancellation and Refund Policy

All requests for program cancellations must be made in writing using a Cancellation Request Form that you can either pick up at Village Hall or click here to open and print. A $5 service fee will be charged for any cancellation request.

  1. A full refund will be issued for any activity that is cancelled by the Parks & Recreation Department Staff.  No written refund request is required.

  2. A refund will not be issued for special events, activities which require a registration fee, or a trip seat that cannot be filled.

  3. Refunds are based on the following:

  • If a cancellation request is received prior to the start of the program, the registrant will receive a refund (less $5 service fee).

  • If the cancellation is made prior to the second class, the registrant will receive a prorated refund (less $5 service fee) or will be allowed to transfer into another program.

  • After the second class, refunds cannot be issued. A prorated transfer to a program from the currently published brochure will be allowed.

  • Once a cancellation request has been received, only remaining classes will be considered towards the prorated transfer.

  • The exception for a refund fee is for a medical doctor's note, if a program has insufficient enrollment, or at the discretion of the Director of Parks & Recreation.

  1. The $3 online registration fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

  2. Make-up classes generally have a rescheduled date or a refund is given. Any person not able to attend the rescheduled date must contact the Parks & Recreation office for a refund.

The Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes for any reason found to be necessary by the staff.  If insufficient enrollment causes a class or program to be cancelled, participants will receive a FULL REFUND in the mail.  Please allow up to 4 weeks to receive your refund.
