The Village Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Village and is responsible to the Village President and Board of Trustees for the proper administration of the Village.  In addition, the Village Administrator prepares the annual budget on behalf of all departments, compiles the agendas for the Committee of the Whole and the Board of Trustees meetings, and handles all Freedom of Information requests.  The Administration Department, also consisting of the Assistant Village Administrator and clerical staff coordinates the Village's economic development activities, liquor licensing applications and public information activities.

Gerald D. Sagona, Village Administrator, is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. Gerald has over 19 years of professional experience in local government management in the Chicago-metropolitan area.

In 1996, Gerald successfully met the certification requirements as an expert government financial manager and was granted the designation of Certified Governmental Financial Manager from the Association of Government Accountants. In addition, Gerald has received awards from the Government Finance Officer's Association and the Civic Federation for his efforts in budgeting, intergovernmental cooperation and solid waste management.

During the summer of 2003, Gerald was selected as a budget reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award program. In February of 2004, Gerald received "Credentialed Manager" designation from the International City Management Association (ICMA). ICMA Credentialed Managers are professional local government managers qualified by a combination of education and experience, adherence to high standards of integrity, and an assessed commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

Gerald Sagona’s community service involvement spans over two decades. He has held local as well as regional offices in various community service organizations including the Kiwanis Club (Key Club and Circle K), Lion’s Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and most recently the Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills, where he serves as a past-President and Treasurer. In 2007, Gerald was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the United Way of McHenry County.

Gerald is married to Wendy Sagona, who is an Occupational Therapist for School District 205. They have three children, Alex, Ben and Collin.

Shannon Andrews, Assistant Village Administrator serves as liaison to the Business Relations Committee and is responsible for business attraction and retention efforts in the Village.  She also assists the Village Administrator with the daily management and operations of the Village.  Shannon has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management.  She is a member of the International Economic Development Council, the Illinois City/County Management Association (ILCMA) and the Illinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants (IAMMA).  She also serves as a Board member on the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce and the McHenry County Convention and Visitors Bureau. 

 

Shannon is married to Don Andrews, who is an ornamental iron worker.  They recently had their first child, Keaton in July of 2005.
