Village President Ed Plaza took office on April 26, 2001.  Since that date he has been instrumental in negotiating the land/school donation which brought us Lincoln Prairie Elementary School and the purchase of the property where our new Village Hall stands. He has negotiated boundary agreements with both Crystal Lake and Cary formally defining the Village's boundaries for the future. 

During his first six years in office, Lake in the the Hills has seen unprecedented economic growth with the addition of retailers such as Lowe's, Costco, Purcell Brothers, Tuffy Muffler, Starbucks, Noodles Inc., just to name a few. With the influx of commercial revenue, President Plaza was able to then sponsor initiatives which led to the removal of utility taxes on natural gas and electricity. Finally, he successfully negotiated the airport agreement with Crystal Lake allowing for Federal and State funding for safety improvements which have already begun at our Airport.

As a 16 year resident of Lake in the Hills, President Plaza has been active in numerous community and non-profit organizations including the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Rotary Club, currently a charter member of the Lake in the Hills' Rotary Club,  the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, Schools Now for District 300, the Lake in the Hills Citizens Police Academy, Lake in the Hills Youth Athletic Association, Safety Town, and National Night Out.  President Plaza served as the President of McHenry County Council of Governments from 2006-2007.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University in 1974 and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology / Chicago Kent College of Law in 1978. President Plaza has been a personal injury trial attorney for over two decades and currently is a named partner in the McHenry County law firm of Michling Hofmann Vinton Plaza & Wick, located in Woodstock.

President Plaza is married to Karen Plaza.  They have two children, Ryan and Caitlin.
