TREES ARE TERRIFFIC… AND ENERGY WISE!

The Village of Lake in the Hills is hosting an Arbor Day poster contest.  The contest is open to Lake in the Hills residents ages nine through eleven.  The theme for 2010 will be:  Trees are Terrific… and Energy Wise.

RULES AND POSTER ELIGIBILITY

• One poster to be submitted per contestant.

• Posters must be original.  Any copyrighted characters, TV figures or photographs are not acceptable.

• Posters must be on poster or drawing paper and cannot be smaller than 8 ½” x 11” or larger than 11” x 17”.

• The posters must be free drawn and spelled correctly.  Stencils, computer generated text, clipart and press-on letters are not acceptable.

• Posters must be signed by the contestant in the lower right hand corner.  First and last name is required.

• The winning poster will be chosen by a committee.

• By participating in this Contest, you agree and hereby grant the Village permission to use, copy, modify and make available your submissions to the public. 

• Original artwork may be retained by the Village for at least one year, after which time arrangements can be made, upon request, to return the original artwork to the participant.

Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place posters.  First place will receive a $250.00 savings bond and have their poster displayed at the Public Works open house.  Second place will receive a $150.00 savings bond and third place will receive a $100.00 savings bond.  All contestants will receive a prize.

The entry deadline for all posters will be April 2, 2010.  Posters can be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Department at Village Hall.  The winner will be announced on April 16, 2010 with the prizes being awarded at the Village Board meeting on April 22, 2010.
