Public Works will conduct its semi-annual hydrant flushing this month. All hydrants west of Randall Road will be flushed April 20-24 and all hydrants east of Randall will be flushed April 27 to May 1. Signs will be placed at least 12 hours prior to flushing.
Hydrant flushing is a vital component of the Village’s maintenance program. Staff will ensure that hydrants are in proper working order. Flushing also removes sediment in water mains, improving water quality and reducing production costs.
When sediment is stirred up during flushing, temporary discoloration in your water may occur. Simply run your tap for 1 to 2 minutes to clear up the water. Residents should avoid doing laundry when hydrant flushing is being performed in the immediate area to prevent staining.
