Recently confirmed, a 27‑foot‑long hot dog-shaped vehicle will be visiting the Summer Sunset Festival from 1-5 pm on Sunday, Sept. 6.

 

Yes, it's the famous Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! The Wienermobile is celebrating its 90th anniversary on the road this summer.

 

Gather the family and check off that bucket list item of stepping inside a larger-than-life frankfurter.   The three-day Summer Sunset Fest takes place Friday to Sunday, Sept. 4-6.

 

As always, festival admission is free. The summer-ending event will feature all the great food, music, classic cars, carnival rides and good times that you remember. Yes, it's sad to say goodbye to summer, but we will have a great time doing it!

 

Visit summersunsetfest.com to explore the many elements of the big weekend. That Saturday includes an 11 am parade with Grand Marshals Bob and Arden Spooner of the LITH Historical Society. The Spooners have been residents since 1994 and were instrumental in the restorations of the historic LaBahn Hain House and one-room Ford Schoolhouse. Bob is a former Village Trustee.

 

New this year is a free game called SINGO during the community picnic. SINGO is bingo but with song titles on your card as the DJ plays snippets of family-friendly hits. Also, the Friday night car show has been relocated closer to the festival grounds, just west of the fest off Haligus Road.

 

And instead of Sunday night fireworks ending the event, the band will come back after the 9 pm fireworks show to keep the party going until 10:30 pm. It will be a fantastic finale indeed.
