A license is required to use or permit the use of a vehicle for the storage, carrying or cooking of food products for sale at retail upon the streets of the Village of Lake in the Hills. An application must be submitted to the attention of the Deputy Clerk at the address below.

The Village Administrator will issue the Food Vendor License upon determination that the applicant meets the standards set forth in Chapter 35.13. The license expires annually on December 31.

Pre-Packaged Food Truck  Vendor (Ice Cream) Fees: $100. for each food vendor, plus $50. for each food product vehicle operated.

Cooking/Open Food Truck Vendor Fees : $100. for each food vendor, plus $100. for each cooking/open food truck operated.  Annual inspections are required. 

All Vendor applicants and their Drivers are reviewed by the Police Department. The application review includes a Background Check, which costs $50.00 per individual and may take from two  to four weeks.

No more than six (6) pre-packaged food truck vendor licenses will be issued in the Village, each with no more than two (2) vehicles. Of the six, three (3) shall be issued to businesses that solely sell ice cream products.
