Lake in the Hills residents and non-residents may purchase a membership through the following ways:

• Register in-person at Village Hall. 
• Mail documents and check to Village Hall.
• Register online here.

Village Hall is located at 600 Harvest Gate, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156 and is open from Monday through Friday  8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.   Please make out checks to "Village of Lake in the Hills."

What you will need for registration:

• A completed registration/rules and regulations form (front and back)
• Proof of residency (If you are a Village resident taking advantage of the resident rate)
• A certificate of valid rabies/county tag number, distemper vaccinations from your vet, or a vet receipt.
• Proof of your dog(s) adoption/rescue/purchase date.  You must have had possession of your dog(s) for at least 6 months.
• Limit of two dogs per person (handler) 
• Membership costs $50 per resident - plus $10 for an additional dog 
• Membership costs $70 per non-resident - plus $20 for an additional dog
• Lake in the Hills residents that are over 55 years old receive a discount
• Memberships are based on 12 month period from date of purchase

 What you will receive

• Your household will be issued a tag for your pet to wear on his/her collar while using the park.  A lost tag can be replaced for $5 
• A key fob will be provided to enter the park gate. A lost key fob can be replaced for $50 
• Those registering online will be notified within 2 business day by email when tags and key fobs are ready to be picked up at Village Hall

• Admittance is by key fob and dog tag. Prior registration is required.
• Hours are from dawn to 9:00 p.m. daily.
• Owner must clean up after their dog. Bags and receptacles are available on site.
• The following activities or items are prohibited within the confines of the park: Food of any kind including dog treats, littering, bikes, climbing over the fences. Dog equipment must only be used by dogs; no adults or children permitted on equipment.
• Gate Safety: Do not enter the corral area if another dog is inside. Dogs must be leashed until inside the gated area. You must have a leash with you at all times.
• Dogs must wear their membership dog tags at all times while at the park.
• Owner must have had possession of the dog for at least 6 months prior to registering. Proof of adoption, rescue, and/or purchase date is required.
• Owner must provide a certificate of valid rabies and distemper vaccinations for each dog or provide proof from your vet or a vet receipt.
• It is recommended that dogs have received the canine influenza vaccine.
• Dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior will not be allowed in the park. Aggressive behavior may result in revocation of park membership with no refund.
• Owner is responsible for any harm their dog inflicts on any other dog or human.
• Dogs in heat are not allowed in the park.
• Unhealthy dogs are not allowed in the park.
• Dogs must have a handler over the age of 18 present at all times.
• Children must be age 6 or older to be in the park and must be accompanied by an adult.
• Handler is responsible for controlling his/her dog at all times.
• There is a limit of two (2) dogs per person.
• Water is available on site; please bring a water dish and take it home with you.
• Smoking, alcohol, and glass containers are NOT ALLOWED at the park.
• Failure to abide by the Bark Park Rules and Regulations may result in the revocation of membership with no refund.
• Early termination of membership by an owner will not result in a refund.
• Owner is responsible for any damage their dog inflicts on any property within the park, including filling up any holes the dog creates. Hole filling stations are located in the park.
• Owner may not let non-members or other dogs into the park. Owner may not let non-household members use Owner’s key fob or dog tag. 

To ensure safe and enjoyable programs and facilities for all participants, the Village of Lake in the Hills has developed the following Code of Conduct. Participants in programs and those using facilities shall:

• Show respect to all participants, staff, equipment, supplies, and facilities.
• Refrain from using offensive or profane language.
• Refrain from aggressive behavior that could cause bodily harm.

The Village reserves the right to dismiss a participant from a program or revoke future participation privileges in programs and/or at facilities if the participant's behavior or language is deemed inappropriate by staff.

Due to the high concentration of dogs within the Bark Park, dog conflicts may occur.

• It is the responsibility of the owners/handlers to maintain control of their dog(s).
• Owners/handlers must supervise dogs at all times.
• Owners are responsible for their own dog(s) and any injuries and/or damage they may cause.
• If your dog inflicts injury, immediately leash your dog, provide your name and phone number to those involved, and leave the park.
• In case of an emergency (dog bite, dangerous behavior), immediately call 911 for assistance.
• To register a complaint about aggressive dog behavior, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 847-960-7400.
• Complaints about aggressive behavior will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and may result in revocation of dog park membership without refund.
• Dog bites that injure another dog or person need to be reported to the Lake in the Hills Police for a record detailing the event.

Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s). 

ALWAYS carry bags and/or equipment to clean up your dog’s waste.  Bag stations are available at Bark Park and throughout other parks and paths in the Village. 

Dog waste is more than unpleasant.  When not picked up, dog waste can spread disease and parasites to other dogs and humans.  Do not allow your dog to defecate on any public property unless you immediately remove and properly dispose of the waste.

The Banner Program allows businesses inside and outside of Lake in the Hills to advertise their services.  For a fee, banners will be displayed at Bark Park for 12 months.
