Cost Share Tree Program

The parkway Tree Replacement Program allows residents to either hire their own contractor to replace the Village parkway tree or replace the tree themselves and receive a rebate for replacement costs of up to a maximum amount of $250. Rebate amounts are based on the caliper size of tree planted. The program will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to limited funding availability. Please call the Public Works Department at (847) 960-7500 to learn more.

Tree Trimming

tree_trimmingThe Village is on a five-year pruning cycle for the parkway trees. The trees are trimmed to promote upward growth and remove deadwood, prevent vehicles from striking branches, and allow clearance for safe passage on sidewalks. Trimming is done by trained village staff under the supervision of a Certified Arborist.

The winter months are the best time to prune and remove damaged or dead branches from your trees. Wounds heal faster when they are done before the spring growth. Not only is it important to trim your trees at the proper time, it is also important to trim using the correct method. Proper pruning techniques ensure that the minimal amount of wounding and crown reduction are done.

See the Tree Owner's Manual below for more information on tree maintenance.
