Running for Local Office
Interested in running for local office? Consolidated elections include the election of select County, Township, Municipal, Park District, Library District, School District, and Fire District officials.
The next available opportunity for candidates interested in running for Village Trustee will be the 2021 consolidated elections. The filing period will be in the fall of 2020.

Illinois residents have several options when registering to vote:
- Register to Vote Online through the State Board of Elections Online Voter Application (Click here).
- Register to Vote In-Person at the Office of the McHenry County Clerk (Click Here for more information).
- Register to Vote by Mail with a mail-in application (Click Here).
Residents can also register to vote at the Finance Department located in Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate during the regular registration period. Regular registration is available year-round, except for the 27-day period prior to an election and re-opens two days following the election. Please call 847-960-7400 in advance to ensure that a registrar will be available at the time you wish to come in.
To register, residents must be 18 years or older, have lived at their current address for at least 30 days prior to the date of the next election and provide two forms of identification with at least one having their current address. Naturalized citizens registering to vote must provide the date, place, and court of naturalization. Telephone number is optional but helpful. The last 4-digits of the Social Security number are required by law, driver's license number is also acceptable.

Voters must be registered 28 days prior to an election. Also, if you have moved or changed your name, you must re-register to be eligible to vote.
